Dear Pope Francis,
It’s harvest time and food is abundant. This summer I really got into going to farmer’s markets. In this age of industrialized food production, it’s so wonderful to have a direct connection to the people who grow what we eat.
I’m guilty of taking the gift of food for granted. I’m even guiltier of not being grateful enough for the privilege of having enough to eat. More than enough, really. I could stand to lose a few pounds.
Maybe by seeing food as gift and blessing from the Divine — and the hard work of farmers — I can right my relationship with food.
